Bronx rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie joined a nine-piece orchestra commissioned by the Audiomack streaming service for their Trap Symphony series. He performed his single “Say A” from his debut album The Bigger Artist, which debuted at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
“What the f— I’m supposed to say? Ayy.” The piano-laced intro blended well with the original version of the song, coupled with violins and trap drums. Bringing melodic verses into this classical arena, the end result is as good as any orchestral performance.
The song about asking for a second chance in a relationship gets a little bit of a boogie—pun intended—when the Bronx rapper comes in on the bridge for a whole verse. He mirrors the forgiveness message of the tune, with lyrics like, “You should come and see me, girl/Just think about it, girl, you still know I still think about you/I know you’re into diamonds I can tell you everything defining you.”
