Liverpool fans were blown away by Naby Keita’s performance against Burnley on Wednesday evening, leaving some to question why he does not start more regularly.
The Guinea international was a calming influence on a much-changed Reds side at Turf Moor as they came from behind to win 3-1.
Keita, on just his fifth start in the Premier League this season, kept things ticking over for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the middle of the park, completing 55 of his 59 passes, a whopping 93 per cent – more than any other player on the park.
The performance earned him rave reviews from team-mate Jordan Henderson when he spoke to the club’s official website after the game.
‘He started the season brilliantly and obviously then getting an injury set him back a little bit. But you can see how good a player he is,’ he told told Liverpoolfc.com.
‘That shot with the left foot and the save from Hart was fantastic. In his overall play he is comfortable on the ball and he helps build up play from the back.
‘He drives the ball forward, which is big for us. I thought he was outstanding, along with everybody else really.’
