Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins recently claimed that there are secret relationship contracts behind-the-scenes of The Bachelor.
But on Friday, Channel 10 hit back at the former rugby union star’s claims, telling B&T that it’s up to the couple if they want to stay together.
A network spokesperson told the publication: ‘As if! There is no way 10 would have a contract that says The Bachelor Australia couple has to stay together after the show finishes. Not a chance, it’s up to them.’
Channel 10’s response comes after Nick spoke to ABC Radio National Radio about his experience on the reality show.
He explained the main reason he didn’t choose either of his finalists was because his contract required him to stay in a relationship with the winner for at least three months.
‘People are so brainwashed, you’re not going to get your fairytale ending every time,’ Nick said.
‘And what’s more important: me just saying “yes” and going through the motions and dragging some girl through all this media about how we’re in love and then three months down the track after the contract’s over we’re allowed to break up?’
He continued, ‘That’s happened [in the past]. I wasn’t going to do that because I have respect for the girl.’
Nick ultimately decided to not pursue a relationship with either Brittany Hockley or Sophie Tieman.
This is not the first time claims of a ‘love contract’ has been brought up with regards to the reality show franchise.
