Barcelona have reportedly rejected the chance to sign Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata.
The 26-year-old has failed to nail down a regular in spot in Maurizio Sarri’s first XI at Stamford Bridge and has started just 11 of Chelsea’s 21 Premier League games this season.
Morata was offered to Barcelona by the player’s agent, according to Mundo Deportivo, but after mulling over the proposal the La Liga giants are said to have rejected the chance to sign him on a six-month loan deal.
Barcelona’s reasons for snubbing the Spanish striker apparently include concerns about how much the deal would cost, with the Catalan club preferring to give an opportunity to a younger player.
But there does appear to be a need for striking reinforcements at the Camp Nou, with Munir El-Haddadi leaving for Sevilla this month, following Paco Alcccer out of the door after he joined Borussia Dortmund last year.
Morata was understood to be keen on joining Barca.
A return to Spain could still be on the cards for the former Real Madrid frontman, as Atletico and Sevilla have both been credited with interest.
