Captain MS Dhoni is bidding to achieve a first in Indian Premier League as table-toppers Chennai Super Kings face Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday
Chennai Super Kings are on a roll in their title defence in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. Having lost only one match to Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede, CSK, with five wins from six matches, are on top of the IPL points table.
The Super Kings have continued to enjoy success in their fortress in Chepauk, having won all the four matches they have played at home in IPL 2019 so far. However, CSK will face some sterner tests as they will be on the road over the next 10 days during which they play four matches.
Chennai Super Kings couldn’t have asked for a better start to their journey on the road as theyface struggling Rajasthan Royals on Thursday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Another 100 for MS Dhoni?
Chennai Super Kings will be keen on beginning their series of away matches on a positive note. All eyes will be on MS Dhoni as the CSK captain is a win away from achieving a major landmark. Dhoni will become the first-ever captain in IPL cricket to win 100 matches if CSK walk away with two points in Jaipur.
MS Dhoni has 99 wins as captain from 165 matches at a staggering win percentage of 60.36. The CSK skipper has won 28 more than Gautam Gambhir, who is second on the list with 71 wins (129 matches).
Dhoni has been in fine form in IPL 2019. Having played a few match-winning knocks already, the wicketkeeper-batsman has collected 156 runs from six matches and has remained unbeaten on three of those occasions.
