A MANHUNT is in progress after a man in his 30s was shot in the back and his legs with a shotgun in Merseyside on Sunday with police appealing for information, it has been reported.
A man in his 30s has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are now carrying out an investigation with house-to-house enquiries, forensic investigations and appeals for information.
A police spokesman said: “We are appealing for information after an injury shooting in the Whiston area tonight (Sunday, March 4).
“At around 8.30pm, a call was received reporting gunshots being heard in Lyneham, Whiston. Armed police were deployed to the location and evidence was found of a firearm having been discharged.
“Shortly after, a man in his 30s attended hospital with non-life-threatening wounds to his back and legs, believed to have been caused by a shotgun.
“Officers are in the area to speak to local residents, and carry out house-to-house, forensic and CCTV enquiries.”
Detective Inspector Matt Smith said: “These are the very early stages of our investigation as we seek to find out the exact circumstances, so we are initially looking to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything around 8.30pm tonight in the Lyneham area.
“To fire any weapon in the street at any time is incredibly reckless and we will act on all information from the community to establish what has happened, find those responsible and remove them from the community.”
