NYPD officers arrested rapper Troy Ave in connection to the shootings at Webster Hall venue in NYC Wednesday night and during a T.I. concert. According to the police, Troy Ave whose real name is Roland Collins is charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
The Wednesday night shooting left one person dead and two more wounded. Collins wounded himself too. The police released a footage of the shooting earlier today.
So far, 33-year-old Collins is considered to be the only suspect for the shooting, but the police are investigating the possibility that more individuals are implicated in the incident.
The footage shows Collins coming out of a VIP room at Irving Plaza, nearby Union Square in lower Manhattan, and firing a shot. Before he fired the shot, Collins paused for a minute to look around the people. Then he fired the shot and exited the screen.
During the shooting T.I. was not on stage. On Thursday, he tweeted his condolences to the families of those who suffered loss.
NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton said that the shooting must be blamed on rap artists that are actually thugs, who celebrate the violence they have experienced throughout their lives.
The police are confident that they will wrap up the incident quickly.
