The U.S. Open women’s and men’s singles champions will each earn this year a record $3.5 million, which is a considerable increase from last year’s $3.3 million.
The US Open proudly has the largest purse of all 4 majors. As it was announced last Tuesday by the U.S. Tennis Association, the tournament purse is estimated to $46.3 million, which accounts for four extra million compared with last year.
The singles champs payout is increased by 10%. The runners-up will get $1.75 whereas the player who loses in the first round will receive $43,300. As for the winning doubles teams, they receive $625,000.
The last 2016 Grand Slam tournament will be held at Flushing Meadows August 29.
