Ariana Grande’s smash hit “Thank U, Next,” co-written by BMG’s Victoria McCants and Kaydence, leads seven charts in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia.
BMG songwriters and artists landed a total of 23 simultaneous chart-topping records around the world this week, propelled by the success of Ariana Grande’s hit “Thank U, Next.”
That track was co-written by BMG’s Victoria McCants and Kaydence and this week returned to No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, while also scoring top marks for the fourth week on the Australian Top 50 Singles chart and for the fifth week on both the Official UK Singles chart and Billboard Canadian Hot 100 charts.
It also marks the 12th straight week BMG has held shares of the No. 1 charting song in the U.S.
“Thank U, Next” also tops Billboard’s Streaming Songs and On-Demand Streaming Songs charts, as well as YouTube’s music charts for its second week.
BMG songwriters last held simultaneous No. 1s in the U.S. and U.K. during the chart week dated Oct. 27, 2018, when Maroon 5 “Girls Like You” featuring Cardi Btopped the Billboard Hot 100 and Calvin Harris and Sam Smith’s “Promises” topped the Official Singles Chart in the U.K.
Meanwhile, the success of Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” featuring Drake is also boosting BMG’s tally of hits. Co-written by the publisher’s CyHi The Prynce, “Sicko Mode” tops the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs, Hot Rap Songs and Rap Streaming Songs charts this week. And after topping the Billboard Hot 100 last week, it now sits at a still-impressive second place on the chart.
