Grey’s Anatomy recap: Someone says ‘I love you’ and Jo breaks down again

Relationships are hard, just ask the doctors on Grey’s Anatomy.

Whether it’s trying to decide if you want to move in with your significant other or freaking out over someone saying ‘I love you,’ there’s simply a right way and a wrong way to handle these situations. And boy, do these doctors get it wrong this week.

Surprise everyone, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is actually happy! We know, it’s weird for us to say too. After telling her children about her new boyfriend DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) last week, Meredith has no problem being open about her love life, which is kind of freaking everybody out.

Speaking of freaking out, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) is still frazzled after Jackson (Jesse Williams) asked her to move in with him last week. She hasn’t given him a straight answer yet and keeps saying she needs to figure out things with Meredith. Basically, she’s making excuses for herself.

Meanwhile, Schmitt (Jake Borelli) happens to witness a man collapse near a flower shop and brings him to the hospital in an ambulance. While at first the patient is referenced as a John Doe, Miranda (Chandra Wilson) quickly realizes it’s actually Fire Chief Lucas Ripley (Brett Tucker), who works with her husband Ben (Jason George). AKA he’s on Station 19 and it’s a crossover episode this week!

Maggie discovers Lucas has a heart condition and needs to have surgery, but he really just becomes a sounding board for Maggie while she figures out what she wants to do with Jackson. She realizes she should’ve been honest with Jackson from the start, not avoid the question completely.
